Digital laboratory work with electronic signature solutions
Verify digitally signed laboratory transfers and electronically seal and send results
Berlin, 03.07.2017. Thanks to so-called digital forms, laboratories can now handle their document processes electronically in a completely legally secure manner – from incoming mail to the dispatch of reports. Electronic signature solutions help to provide digital data with a high evidential value and thus protect it from unnoticed manipulation.
Since 1 July 2017, assigning physicians can use digital forms for laboratory referrals (Sample 10) or for orders to laboratory associations (Sample 10A) and send them digitally. This eliminates a large part of the digitization and post-processing work for the laboratory. Model 10 will bear a qualified electronic signature of the physician. To ensure that this is valid and that the document has not been forged, laboratories should automatically verify the e-signature with signature software such as digiSeal®server. If required, the software can be easily integrated into the process control application, e.g. the laboratory information system (LIS), via API, web service or “hot folder”.
Secure digital laboratory results with electronic seals
Laboratories can then automatically and high-performance apply an electronic seal to their findings and transmit them in digital form to referring physicians. The electronic seal is a new signature tool for legal entities. This gives the laboratory the opportunity to apply a legally valid stamp to the digital documents on behalf of the company. The referring physicians can immediately see that the findings have been issued by the appointed laboratory and have not been changed in the meantime.
Technical equipment for sealing
Laboratories require signature software for sealing – for example digiSeal®office (pro) for individual documents or batches of up to 500 documents or digiSeal®server for automated mass sealing and verification. In addition, a single or multi-seal card must be applied for from a trusted service provider, e.g. D-TRUST, and a card reader with integrated keyboard must be ordered.
