For different reasons, current business processes often rely on paper-based forms that entail the use of very elaborate and time-consuming data capturing procedures by the recipients of the data, such as insurance companies.

One solution for this problem is the use of two-dimensional (2D) barcodes for storing the contents of the form directly on the paper document. Without requiring any manual effort, this can then be scanned and electronically processed, making the capturing process quicker, more efficient and cheaper.

…since conventional 2D barcodes such as DataMatrix or PDF-417 are unable to store the often very large data volumes on a sensibly sized surface area when using basic printers.
